Planner / Project Manager
Polocorp Inc is looking for an Planner with 4 – 6 years experience to join our office in Kitchener. The role offers a unique opportunity to join a tight-knit, collaborative team of diverse professionals. With projects throughout Southern Ontario, we are experienced in a range of project types and scales, ranging from high-density infill to low-rise greenfield development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and submit planning applications such as Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments, Draft Plans of Subdivision and Condominium, Site Plans, Minor Variances, and Severances
- Manage application process from submission to decision
- Prepare written materials including Planning Justification Reports, letters and other supporting materials
- Contribute to all aspects of planning and design process from early property analysis and visioning through to the preparation of development plans and regulations
- Participate in a broad range of project types including high-density infill to greenfield communities
- Review and provide comment on development concepts, site plans and plans of subdivision
- Liaise with clients, municipal staff and consultants
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including subconsultants, in support of planning applications
- Attend and present to Council and Committee meetings
- Undertake policy and regulatory due diligence on prospective properties to identify opportunities and constraints
- Monitor relevant planning policy and legislative changes
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 4 – 6 years of related professional experience
- A degree in Urban Planning or related field from an accredited university or college
- Full Membership in OPPI/CIP required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Some graphic communication skills
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and organization skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, as well as online meeting applications such as Teams and Zoom
- Strong understand of urban planning and urban design theory and practice within Ontario
Senior Planner (MCIP) / RPP Planner
